Manipal Tigers announces the signing of Darren Sammy, Imran Tahir, and Corey Anderson for the Legends League Cricket

Manipal Education and Medical Group (MEMG), the franchise owners of Manipal Tigers, announced on Monday the inclusion of the two-time T20 World Cup winning West Indies captain, Darren Sammy; Corey Anderson and Imran Tahir for the upcoming Legends League Cricket kickstarting for its second season from 16 September 2022.

Manipal Tigers have already secured the celebrated cricketer, the Indian spin wizard, Harbhajan Singh, to lead their team. Tigers have spent the most amount of over 6.9 crores among the four franchises and had a remaining purse of INR 1,08,80,000 left to onboard more players to their team.

Talking about the addition of Darren Sammy, Imran Tahir, and Corey Anderson, the CEO and Co-Founder of Legends League Cricket, Raman Raheja commented that Manipal Tigers had already picked 13 stalwarts from the drafts and with their remaining balance, they wanted to pick big ger names to be a part of their team. In fact, the Tigers were looking for influential T20 players with the experience of hitting big numbers and shots on the ground. And there could not have been better performers with more extensive experience joining the team than Darren Sammy, Imran Tahir, and Corey Anderson. All these players have played comprehensive T20 cricket for their respective countries with match-winning contributions even across other T20 leagues worldwide.

Manipal Tigers has enigmatic cricketing legends supporting their lead with the likes of one of the fastest bowlers in the world, Brett Lee; the Sri-Lankan cricket star, Muttiah Muralitharan; the South African all-rounder, Lance Klusener; and the Sri Lankan wicket-keeper, Romesh Kaluwitherana who played a significant role in helping the team lift the 1996 World Cup with his magnificent tsunami-style batting play.

The Legends League Cricket commences on 17 September

The Legends League Cricket will be conducted in a phased manner from 17 September, with the first match being played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Other venues for the tournament include Delhi, Lucknow, Cuttack, and Jodhpur. A total of 16 fixtures are scheduled between four teams to take place in 11 days.
